Counseling Approach

Maddie comes from a psychodynamic approach, exploring how past experiences and relationships can shape the ways we think, feel, and relate to ourselves and others in the present. She prioritizes nonjudgment, understanding that every behavior serves a purpose and makes sense on some level within the context of a person’s life and circumstances. Maddie aims to provide a warm, grounded space where clients feel heard, emotionally safe, and empowered to explore themselves with honesty and curiosity. Maddie believes that the therapeutic relationship is a collaborative and transformative connection through which insight, trust, and lasting change can emerge.

Maddie draws from different approaches/interventions as a therapist, including:

  • Psychodynamic
  • Contextual Behavioral Approaches (ACT, DBT)
  • Narrative
  • Emotionally-Focused Therapy (EFT)
  • Strength-Based

Outside of the Practice

Maddie lives in Washington, DC, and can be found playing basketball or unwinding in a sauna. She also enjoys cooking, reading Russian lit, watching movies, and spending time with loved ones.
